What Shoes To Wear With Jeans
I practically live in jeans. I’m not kidding…I wear them almost every single day! Skinny jeans, straight jeans, flare jeans, kick flare jeans, you name it! I love them all! I often get the question, “What shoes should I wear with my jeans?” Well…I’m here to share the top eight shoes I have in my closet that I routinely pull out to wear with jeans. I also have a VERY helpful Guide To Wearing Boots With Jeans video here.
#1 | Knee High Boots
Knee-high boots are a must-have if you love skinny jeans! When they are not super fitted around your calves…like the two pairs I’m wearing above, they will slide right over skinny jeans perfectly. Knee-high boots should come up below your kneecap. Material and color are up to you based on the rest of your wardrobe. If you wear more brown, get a gorgeous tan pair. If you wear a lot of black and gray, go with black! Another great option with skinnies is over the knee boots. I shared how to wear OTK boots if you’re tall or petite in this post. Find more must-have boots and booties here.
#2 | Ankle Booties
You can wear your ankle boots with pretty much any jean style. Tuck them into skinny jeans, wear a statement bootie with some kick flare jeans, or wear them under some straight jeans. These are probably the most versatile shoes to wear with jeans! I have multiple pairs in multiple styles and colors. The color and style are really up to you! I know that styling your jeans with ankle booties can be challenging and that’s why I created this comprehensive video.
#3 | Flats
Your flat shoes should be very comfortable! You have lots of options here. Sandals, loafers, mules, slides, pointed toe flats, whatever you want! If you work in an office that you get to wear jeans, try some chic, professional loafers. If you’re more casual, try some fun sandals. I shared more flat shoe styles in this post and how to look taller in flats here.
#4 | Sneakers
I wear sneakers with my jeans a TON. My favorites are the Linea Paolo wedge sneakers..especially when it comes to traveling. They add height without sacrificing comfort. But there are tons of sneaker options out there! White sneakers are another popular option. You can get some slide/slip-on sneakers. If you live in a colder climate, you might want some cool shearling-lined sneakers for winter. If you’re fashion-forward and like to take risks, try some cool dad sneakers. Golden Goose sneakers are very popular but pretty pricey. Another option are Veja sneakers. They take a few weeks to break-in but are very cute!
#5 | Strappy Heels
Some strappy heels are the perfect shoes to wear for a girls’ night out, date night or special occasions. You won’t wear these as much as you’ll wear the shoes mentioned above but they’re still a nice option to have in your closet!
#6 | Pumps
I wear pumps with my jeans all the time! They always take a jean outfit up a notch! You can wear pumps with pretty much any denim style. My favorites designer pair of pumps are the Jimmy Choo Romy Pumps. A more affordable option that is especially great for narrow feet, the Sam Edelman Hazel Pumps. If you can’t wear pumps, get a pair of really sleek flats instead.
#7 | Mules
These mules don’t have to have a heel like the ones above. You can also grab mule flats if heels aren’t your thing. There are a lot of mules out there. If you don’t already have a classic pair, get those first. If you want to spice it up, get some mules that have an interesting heel detail or sleek silhouette.
#8 | Moto Boots
Moto boots are perfect over your jeans or with more cropped jeans. If you don’t like moto boots, you can also try combat boots, snow boots, rain boots (climate dependent), etc. These are basically secondary boots to wear with your jeans that aren’t the classic ankle boot. They are typically a bit edgier than traditional ankle boots.
