Swimsuits Over 40

Swimsuits for women over 40, including one piece sexy suits, tankinis, shapewear swimwear and bikinis

The minute you throw in an ‘over 40’ in your blog title …women are ready to pounce!
Don’t believe me? Check out the comments on this “How to Wear Shorts Over 40” video
OR “How to Dress Appropriately For Your Age.”
NO ONE wants to be told you can’t wear this or that.
And, the good news is… I’m saying the OPPOSITE in this post…

“Wear a swimsuit you feel comfortable and confident in…to look your best!”

I am excited to partner with Nordstrom to show you some wonderful swimsuit options!

Keep scrolling to see the suits I picked, and the “Essential Swimsuit Fit Guide.”
It’s packed with styling tips!

Option #1 | Sexy One-Piece

One of my favorite Instagram handle’s is…”Not Dead Yet.”
Isn’t that hilarious? I just love it!!
Annddd, it’s SO true.
Just cause you’re getting older, doesn’t mean you can’t rock some sexy pieces!!
This Becca suit above is one example.
It’s SEXY from the front AND back, but still covers all your parts.
It’s also chic and sophisticated.
…Cause there is a fine line, right? 😉

And, most importantly…I can still be a mom in it!

#2 | ‘Not-So-Basic’ Black One-Piece

Swim for women over 40, one piece swimsuits and bikinis for mature women, by Erin busbee, fashion blogger and youtuber from busbee style, busbeestyle.com, san antonio-texas wearing Becca black crochet one-piece suit very flattering, swimsuits, and swimwear

This is another Becca suit!
As you can see it’s really elegant and sexy too.
These suits are simple, but with really interesting, thoughtful details… that make them special.
I also love how this one above defines your waist with the crochet and black panel.

I have some trouble with one-pieces because for some odd reason…
Even though I’m petite… I have a very long torso.
Because of that fit issue, I order size medium, versus small.
I would say in general you should size UP, one full size on most swimwear.

There are a couple of lines I LOVE for my over 40 ladies:

1) Becca (as mentioned above)
2) And, Robin Piccone

Both of these lines offer the perfect mix of fashion and function!
They are sexy, but tasteful.

Don’t forget your sunscreen to be sun safe, and avoid funky tan lines.

Option #3 | Push Up, Striped Bikini

Bikini over 40? Why not! Erin Busbee of Busbeestyle shows us a few options that offer more coverage for mature women who want to wear bikinis over 40

Swimwear for women over 40, including bikinis like this one by Robin Piccone which offers more coverage than a typical bikini both in front and back. Fedora and straw black and tan bag finish off the look, perfect poolside or beach look!

This striped bikini by Robin Piccone (another line I love) is ideal for small busted women.
The top pushes up the girls, and creates the illusion of a larger bust.
The suit also has more coverage on the back side.
If you have tried on a thousand bikinis and suits like I have…
You know there are SO many with little to NO coverage on your bum.
I don’t know about you, but I want that junk in my trunk covered up!

BTW, how cool are these pants? LOVE these!

Bikinis Over 40

I actually prefer wearing bikinis
WHY? Because I simply think they are more flattering on MY body.
I have almost no waist and a long torso… so it’s tough for me to find one-pieces that fit well.
For me, the bikini adds definition to my waist.
Plus, I feel sexier in them.
Which, is pretty priceless at any age.

Option #4 | Halter Bikini

Bikini over 40? Why not! Erin Busbee of Busbeestyle shows us a few options that offer more coverage for mature women who want to wear bikinis over 40 - wearing Becca peach bikini here, poolside, swimwear for mature women

Another Becca suit
This one is in one of my favorite colors…peach!
Like the striped bikini striped bikini above, it offers more coverage.
My backside feels comfortable, and covered.
The girls are covered.
The halter neckline of this top would be great if you have broader shoulders.

Insecurities

Do I have sagging skin on my tummy from popping out two kids at 35, and 38??
Otherwise known as AMA or Advanced Maternal Age.
Yup. I sure do.
Skin laxity? Check.
Cellulite? Sure.
Slight bat wings. You bet.
BUT… I feel most comfortable and confident wearing bikinis.
So, I try not to focus on the bad, and just be happy I’m not scaring small children.
(And I would know… cause they would tell me! ;)

Tell Me What You Think! leave a comment...

  1. Your comment brought back memories for me, Erin. I had my first babies at 30 and 32 and had a “surprise” at 40, making me Advanced Maternal Age. I told my doctor to please stop referring to me that way so she shortened it to “AMA” in her conversations. That surprise baby turns 10 next week and I’m so thankful for him.

Blessings to you and your family.

    1. I totally get that. I didn’t like being referred to as “Advanced Maternal Age” or AMA…
Thanks for sharing your story and happy birthday to your sweet 10 year old baby!! Erin xo

  2. You look amazing, Erin. Due to the decline in healthy eating in America, most teens and 20-somethings don’t have figures as svelte and toned as yours. Rock those swimsuits, young lady!

    1. I remember doing a story when I worked in TV news about type 2 diabetes no longer being an “adult” problem. Scary. Have you watched the documentary about the Sugar industry? Fascinating.
Thanks very much for the kind words, Pam! Erin xo

  3. You look amazing. I have never looked that good in my life…not even at 22. Way to be fearless!

    1. Thank you so much, Kristy. I am definitely not fearless.
But getting closer to that as I get older.
I just don’t care what people think as much anymore…in a really good way.
I do and wear what makes me feel good, confident, happy!
Hope you are having a wonderful day! Erin xo

  4. You look amazing! Have you ever done a post on your fitness and eating habits? If not, you should.
    Thanks
    Debbie

    1. I have, Debbie! http://busbeestyle.com/2017/01/16/exercise-plan-new-year-2017-tracy-anderson-method/
      Thank you so much!!
I used to do TA at least 5 times a week, but lately it’s been more like 2 or 3.
I just try to grant myself grace. If I’m really busy, I cut it back, but when I can go all in…I try to…in order to maintain the muscle tone.
I think maintenance has been the key for me so if I take breaks (or eat badly for a while)… I don’t fall apart.
But, it’s a daily struggle especially now that my hormones are wacky. Trying to keep the tummy at bay is HARDER now!!
