It feels like it’s so far away, but fall is right around the corner! I always say when talking about trends…they come and go. You do not have to wear trends. The reason I share them is so that you’re empowered, informed shoppers. I’ve poured over sites, fashion shows, and magazines to find the most wearable fall fashion trends of 2018 (below).
You can also watch the VIDEO (above).
The first trend is plaid…which is still going strong! The new twist on the trend would be houndstooth, classic brown plaids like this Veronica Beard blazer, I ordered from the Nordstrom sale. Plaid has been around for years and even though it’s a ‘trend’ it still feels classic… like something you can wear it for years to come.

You can see the crazy runway look in the video or photo above. I don’t think you will wear giant over-sized coats, but maybe a SLIGHTLY oversized piece. Think slouchy, cocoon-like, not quite as fitted, boyfriend styles. If you have a closet full of fitted jackets, think about introducing some more slouchy cardigans or boyfriend style jackets.

This fall fashion trend is like an arts and crafts project. There’s a lot of patchwork, quilting, and crochet. If you have a bohemian, folksy spirit, this is the trend for you!

Florals are still having a moment! If you want some serious floral inspiration look at Valentino or Dolce & Gabbana. I think floral prints can be hard to get right…they can look very upholstery-esque. Just say NO to that look. Instead, look for prints that are tasteful and modern.

Watch the video above to learn what my favorite part of the 80’s was and the crazy trend I used to wear. Today, we’re focused on lots of leather and strong shoulders. Zhivago is a dress designer that makes the most gorgeous 80’s inspired dresses that feel so modern.

The next fall fashion trend is transparency. This includes everything from trench coats being clear, plastic, or vinyl, to clear bags, to clear strap on heels, to see through heels on shoes. There’s a new twist to the trend, which is this almost holographic look with a rainbow of colors. I’m not sure how this will manifest in our everyday fashion but I think it’s interesting! Maybe start with a bag or shoes first!

I don’t see this as a trend because I wear it all the time…all white! I’ve talked about wearing all white on multiple occasions. I suggest you mix up tones and textures to give the outfit more interest and depth. This just looks so luxe and sophisticated!

What’s old is new again! These are basically coats and jackets that look old and vintage! This includes shearling, leather, and suede. The perfect example of this is the suede trench coat I bought from Nordstrom sale.

The next trend is pumps reinvented! This means cool heels with deep v’s in the front, straps across the foot, or sculptural, artistic heels (think cone heels or ball heels). It’s a fun way to add freshness into your wardrobe that won’t break the bank. It’s a trend but it’s not too crazy!

Color Trend: Red
I want to talk about the hot colors of the season. The first is red! Head to toe red. I did an all red suit look last fall. It’s still a trend! You can wear red booties, a red power suit, the red dress, the red lip, etc.

Color Trend: Brown
The newest color for this fall is brown! It’s been around but it did go away for a while! And now it’s back! I’ve always loved brown. Style tip: You CAN wear black and brown together! If you have a brown coat and you want to wear your black booties, do it!
