How To Wear A Blazer With Jeans!
One of the things I talk about quite a bit, is the importance of a style uniform. If you’re unfamiliar with what a style uniform is, ask yourself…”What do I wear most often?” and “What is the combination of clothes I reach for again and again because it makes me feel comfortable and confident??” That’s your style uniform! Simply put… it’s an outfit combination that you love to wear. One that you know fits and flatters your body beautifully.
Depending on the season or stage of your life (ex: chasing kids around vs. empty nester), your style uniform can change. Right now, and for the past few years, my style uniform is a blazer and jeans! But instead of getting stuck in a style rut and wearing the same outfit over and over, there are ways you can change it up to make it fresh and modern…
By the way, I did a video on how to determine if you’re in a style rut that you can watch here. And then I share tips on how to get out of that rut in this video. And if you need a little more guideance, you can purchase my Style Made Simple course here.
Tips for Wearing A Blazer With Jeans
Before we dive into some of my favorite blazer and jeans outfits, I wanted to talk a bit more about how to nail this classic combo.
- Pay attention to proportions. If you’re wearing an oversized blazer, wear more streamlined pants or jeans. If you’re wearing a classic blazer, you can probably get away with a baggier jean style.
- Mix styles. A blazer and jeans are quite classic and casual. Choose an uber-feminine top or edgy booties to add some contrast. The contrast is what makes your look really pop.
- Add an accessory. A blazer and jeans outfit is already a winning, fail-safe combination, one great accessory like a bib necklace or earrings is really all you need.
- Fit for a queen! The last tip is to make sure your blazer fits you beautifully. We do a deep dive on the ideal blazer fit in this post.
Look #1 – Luxe Blazer with Relaxed Fit Jeans
This AMAZING blazer is by Balmain. It’s over-the-top pricey, but I think it is worth the investment if you wear blazers as much as I do. I did an entire review of it here but it’s a really great, more formal blazer. I added edge to this classic blazer, by wearing trendy relaxed-fit jeans, a fitted bodysuit, and pointed-toe suede booties. This look is definitely very sexy because of the lower-cut bodysuit… but you can always swap that out for a v-neck tee, sleek blouse, or whatever feels like your style!
This is a look I’d wear for a date night or night out. Find more summer night out outfits here.
Look #2 – Oversized Blazer with Ripped Jeans
If you’re looking for something a little more casual, but still super chic, this is a great option! Don’t be afraid to go for a pop of color. I love how much polish and pop this longline red blazer adds to an otherwise very casual look. (Also, I share more tips on how to style a boyfriend blazer specifically in this post.) I paired this sophisticated statement blazer with a white long-sleeve tee, ripped jeans, and cute white slingbacks. You could wear this look to a weekend lunch with girlfriends or to dinner with your significant other.
Look #3 – Leather Blazer with Sneakers
This leather Veronica Beard blazer is another higher-priced blazer option but it’s SO good I own it in brown too! I snagged this one on major sale. What I love about this look is that I can take the blazer off and have a very casual, everyday look. But, no question the blazer kicked up the look a notch (or ten)! This is a simple look to recreate with items you probably already have in your closet!
Are you seeing a trend?? Jeans + Tee + Blazer = Fab Outfit!
Look #4 –Â Classic Blazer with All-Black Outfit
If you’re a longtime subscriber, you know how much I love my Veronica Beard dickey blazer! This blazer is my go-to no matter where I’m going or what I’m doing! I wear it all the time with jeans, a tee, and sneakers. But in this look, I went a little dressier with an all-black date night outfit! I’m wearing a sweater dickey that zips in and out of the jacket, faux leather jeans, a black cami, a Valentino belt, and classic pumps.
Note: the leather blazer above in Look #3 is also a dickey blazer so you can interchange your dickeys.
Look #5 – Colorful Blazer with Skinny Jeans
If you liked the pop of color in #2, you’ll love this look as well! This blue L’Agence blazer has been a long-time favorite. The blue is SO gorgeous and unique. I kept the rest of the look pretty basic to let the blazer be the standout. I’m wearing a white cami, dark wash skinny jeans, and heeled mules. If you want to make this more casual, just swap the heels for sneakers or flats! And don’t be afraid to try other colorful blazers like a pink blazer, yellow blazer, green blazer, etc.
Just remember, when in doubt about color, keep everything else in your look neutral and classic.
Look #6 – White Blazer with Mom Jeans
If you want a really awesome and affordable dupe for the Balmain blazer above, this is IT!! I have this white blazer in black too and the quality is so good! I’m wearing a black bodysuit, mom jeans, and heeled sandals with the blazer. This look is similar to #2, but since these jeans aren’t ripped and the blazer isn’t too oversized, it’s a more polished option!
Do you see how every single one of these looks is the same combination and yet feels different? That’s how your style uniform works!
Look #7 – Cropped Blazer & Jeans
If you’re petite, this is a great style blazer for you…a cropped blazer! Cropped blazers hit the waist higher up, which is typically more flattering on shorter women. This cropped blazer by A.L.C. is a beautiful option in the prettiest white. But you could swap it for whatever color you prefer or already own. I styled it with a white chain-detailed cami by Generation Love, some classic dark blue jeans, and booties. I’d wear this to dinner or swap the shoes for a more casual feel.
Look #8 – Oversized Blazer & Wide-Leg Jeans
If you like the classic look of the Balmain blazer but still want it to be a little oversized, this Sezane blazer is such a chic option and has a great fit. In this version of the style uniform, I styled the blazer with a pretty Parisian-inspired striped shirt, a pair of super-flattering wide-leg jeans, and some clog sandals. This is a look you could wear to the office on casual Fridays, running errands, to lunch, or even to dinner.
Look #9 – Classic Blazer & Flared Jeans
Remember that Veronica Beard dickey blazer from Look #4? I wanted to share another way to style it. In this look, I’m wearing the same sweater dickey, a basic white cami, and a pair of jeans with a super flared leg.
Look #10 – Luxe Blazer & Boots
Lastly, here’s one more way to style your luxe Balmain blazer for a date night. I’m wearing the blazer with a pair of skinny jeans and some Schutz knee-high boots. I have these boots in a few different colors and they’re such a good basic to have. The lace cami makes it a little extra sexy for date night, but if you want to make this more casual, wear a classic v-neck tee and some classic black ankle booties or knee-high boots without a heel.

Love the styles! It has helped me with understanding what to buy! Can you add shoe options that are not so high? Options with a 2 or 2.5 inch heel would be appreciated!
Hi Nancy, thanks for your note! So glad you enjoyed this post. These cap toe slingbacks have a 2.5″ heel and would look great with a blazer and jeans. They come in a few color options also – https://rstyle.me/+UMPFUyxE1n_7AsYHlPatyQ Enjoy your week! ~Team Busbee
