Swimsuits for Women Over 40
I’ve talked about how I no longer try on swimsuits in stores anymore. Ordering them online and trying on at home eliminates most of what we hate about swimsuit shopping…three-way mirrors, fluorescent lighting, and the overall uncomfortable feeling of stripping down in a dressing room used by so many others…
I recently placed a HUGE swimsuit order and I’m sharing all the suits that I found that are sexy, flattering and offer full coverage… to help all of you look amazing at the beach, pool and on vacation. I know many of us have specific preferences when it comes to bikinis, one-pieces, tankinis, etc. Remember that every body type is different. It’s important to know what style or design details best highlight your body. Stick to the formula and silhouette that works for you.
Go To Swimsuit Brands
Take it from me, I’ve ordered DOZENS of swimsuits from all over, all different brands… stick with brands that work for YOU. When I go rogue, which happens quite often because reviewing and testing clothes is my gig, it’s not pretty.
My go-to brands are: Becca, Robin Piccone, Vix, Vitamin A, Oye, La Blanca, and Solid & Striped.

Paisley Print Once Piece
I don’t always love prints…but this paisley, one piece is gorgeous! I love the print! And scarf prints are very on trend for spring. This swimsuit has wide shoulder straps added support and a wide obi belt that is SOOOO flattering! It also has removable cups and adjustable straps. This suit print also comes in a bikini style that’s reversible! Plus, a cute swim dress! I linked them all below. BTW, you will thank me for this one. It’s that good.

Striped Two Piece
This super cute striped bralette style top is perfect for the beach! It has a tie back so you can adjust the fit. The cool metallic stripe print gives it a modern feel. And the thicker underbust band gives it more support than normal bikini tops!
Bottoms
These hipster bikini bottoms have a good amount of coverage so you feel comfortable (especially in the back). I love the corset ties on the hips. It makes it a little sexier. And there are cute bead details on the ties too!

Cage Clutch
A quick note about this Bamboo Cage Clutch by Vince Camuto… it’s an AMAZING dupe for the popular “it” bags by Cult Gaia and you will literally want to carry it with EVERY outfit this spring and summer season. It adds SO much interest to your look.

Striped Tankini
If bikinis aren’t your thing…a tankini is another option! This tankini, in the same print as the bikini above, offers much more coverage. It ties at the neck and back and has the same beaded detail as the matching bottoms. The v it makes in the front is very flattering and elongates your torso. It is also a looser fit so it provides forgiveness around the tummy area. This would be an awesome post-baby suit too! Wear the hipster bikini bottoms like I am or get the matching bottoms without the side-tie detail.

White One Piece
This one has a little less coverage because it’s mesh. But it’s still one of my all-time favorites! It’s a SUPER GLAM white one piece by OYE. The OYE suits are next level swimsuits for those moments in life when no ordinary swimsuit will do. They are a little pricey, but I think they are worth the investment. Here is a dupe of this suit for those on a budget.

By the way, if you ever need to take swimsuit pictures, DEFINITELY take them at sunset. It’s the most flattering light. You can hardly see my wrinkly tummy or the skin laxity on my legs. And, how insane is this background? It was beyond gorgeous, BUT… it was 40 DEGREES when I took these. If you look closely you will see goosebumps. Taking one for the team! 😉

Hey Erin, I’m looking for a really flattering 2 piece with a higher waist and good support up top. I’m not big busted, but I’m 56 years YOung and haven’t felt confident enough for a bikini in a good long while (keto rocks). Thoughts?
Did you see the Becca one I featured above?? I love that one.
This one is simple and sexy!! https://rstyle.me/+NHownI8bP7Mgpd8pgBl7eQ
And I LOVE the sexy strap detailing on this bikini in black: https://rstyle.me/+6ElUsF1pDrCLkpPbSVc1-g
Fantastic post, Erin–and perfect timing! I’m just starting to look for new swimsuits.
also, hoping you don’t mind me asking but would you mind sharing your bra size? I’m loving the one piece with the obi belt but concerned i might not fill it out?
It will adjust to you with the tie around the neck. I think unless you are a AA, you’ll be fine. It’s a gorgeous suit and if it doesn’t work, just send it back! 😉 Erin xo
