As the seasons change, it’s hard to know what’s appropriate to wear on date night. If it’s summer, can I wear shorts?? If it’s fall, can I wear a sweater or cardigan?? I’m answering your questions and giving you some outfit inspiration for date night…no matter what the season!
Fall Date Night
I personally LOVE the fall for the cooler weather and more neutral earthy palettes. As soon as the cooler weather hits, I can’t wait to reach for my favorite leather booties and long sleeve blouses and sweaters. Spoiler alert: date night can also be comfy!
This outfit is perfect for date night. The cropped leather pants add just enough “sexy” to the look while the balloon sleeve sweater is super cozy. The v-neck line is also great! Pair the look with some booties and you’re ready for dinner! Dress it up with some gold pieces of jewelry and some lightly-tinted sunglasses for a perfect fall look.
You may remember this outfit from this post on how to wear leather pants over 40!
Winter Date Night
I know that winter blues are the thing! During the winter months, we get tired and don’t really feel like doing much…much less get dressed for date night! When it comes to winter date night outfits, I love the look of a basic pair of skinny jeans, a fun top, and a blazer! In this look, I’m wearing some low heeled slingbacks but if you live in cold climates, you can wear a pair of booties or boots!
One of my favorite things about dressing for the winter months is all the COATS! Everyone appreciates a gorgeous wool coat, am I right!? Pair this look with a chic overcoat for those really cold nights and you’ll look super chic!

Spring Date Night
Spring is a great season for fresh looks, as the cold winter months are finally on their way out. Let the pastel colors do their thing and brighten up your date night outfits! I love dressing for the spring with bright colors. I also love breaking out the open-toe shoes!
For a spring date night, I’d wearing a pretty pink lace top with white jeans and cute wedges. You can easily swap out any of these pieces for something that fits your style. If pink isn’t your color, do a pretty green or blue blouse instead. Don’t like white jeans…try a blue light wash denim instead! If you’d rather wear sneakers, go for it!

Summer Date Night
Summer is meant to be fun and the same goes for the clothes that come with it. I love this season for all the cute dresses, strappy sandals, skirts, and shorts in my closet! You will never regret wearing a cute summer dress during a summer date night.
I’m wearing one of my favorite mini dresses from this summer with a pair of white strappy sandals. This dress is pretty short so if you don’t like showing off your legs, go with a midi or maxi dress instead. I also love denim shorts or cool skirt for summer paired with a bright top.
I shared three chic dresses for summer in this post.
