4 Simple Outfit Ideas to Stay Cozy & Stylish at Home

What To Wear At Home

Do you work from home or just love to hang out at home on the weekends? Raise your hand if you’re a homebody! As many of you know, I work from home and live in a pretty remote area. I don’t do much outside of the house during the day besides the occasional errands like running to the post office or carpooling. While I’m working from home, I like to be really comfortable. But my test on whether my loungewear looks are elevated enough has always been asking myself if I feel comfortable answering the door in what I’m wearing.

Recently, I’ve taken it a step further…to what I call “couch to curb.” Now, I make sure that my lounge outfits can also be worn out of the house if I want to run a quick errand too. In today’s video and post below, I’m sharing some of my go-to loungewear outfits that are super cozy and comfy but also chic and pulled together!

By the way, if you want to see how I take these looks from couch to curb with a few accessory swaps, make sure you watch the video too!

Black Joggers & Camo Sweater

Look #1 –  Black Joggers & Camo Sweater

This first look is a go-to for me while working from home. I’m wearing a pair of Frank & Eileen cotton joggers that I love. They have pockets…which is a must for me. You wouldn’t think that pockets would be such a big deal while you’re hanging out at home but I like having them so I can throw my phone in there if I need an extra hand. I also love the elastic waist that’s very forgiving and comfortable. And the tapered leg is very flattering (especially for any petite women – I’m 5’4” for reference).

With these pants, I usually throw on some sort of soft, elevated sweater. If you run hot, you can wear a thinner sweater or swap it for a lightweight tee. In this look, I’m wearing a super lightweight cashmere camo sweater. Underneath the sweater, I’m wearing a Spiritual Gangster crop top. Usually, when I’m working from home I’ll wear some sort of sports bra, bralette, or tank under my top to stay comfortable but feel a little support. If I’m planning to leave the house in, I’ll throw on a puffer, some slide-on boots, grab nu handbag, and I’m ready to go…super simple!

Quick note: This outfit is a darker color story (black and gray). But you can recreate the look with your preferred color story. You’ll see a similar look in a lighter color story in Look #4 so you can see what I mean.

Turtleneck Sweater & Rag & Bone “Jeans”

Look #2 – Turtleneck Sweater & Rag & Bone “Jeans”

This look is the perfect mix of fashion and function! I’m wearing a pair of really cool Rag & Bone jeans that aren’t really jeans. I’ve shared the jogger version of these pants in a few blog posts, and these are a similar concept. The fabric is super soft and lightweight, they have an elastic waistband, they have a flattering wide-leg that’s very modern and on-trend, and…they have the look of jeans printed on them. Yep, they’re basically lounge pants that just look like jeans…without having to actually wear jeans! Just trust me…they’re amazing!

I’m wearing the pants with a turtleneck sweater by Autumn Cashmere that’s super soft and comfy. You don’t necessarily need this exact sweater to recreate this look but I’d look for a similar sweater that’s lightweight, not too oversized, and give you some shape.

The slippers I’m wearing with each of these outfits are a pair I’ve owned for about two years. They’re an indoor/outdoor slipper which is ideal for anyone who lives in a cold climate and needs the ability to quickly let the dog out or run out to the mailbox to grab a package. Another thing I love about these slippers is that they aren’t shearling lined so my feet don’t get too hot throughout the day. Don’t forget that if you have to run an errand, you can make a few accessory changes and be ready to go. If you want to see how I’d wear each of these outfits to run an errand, make sure you watch this video!

Ivory Pants & Rails Star Sweater | What To Wear At Home

Look #3 – Ivory Pants & Rails Star Sweater

Sometimes you want to lighten things up, right?! Especially during the winter when wearing so much black and gray can get monotonous. In this look, I’m wearing a white Rails sweater that’s lightweight, roomy, and a little longer so I can leave it untucked or do the front tuck. With the sweater, I’m wearing a pair of ribbed ivory wide-leg pants by Lovers + Friends that are older. I linked a similar option for you but there are so many ribbed knit pant options out there for you to choose from. The slippers I’m wearing are by Jenni Kayne and are another great inside/outside slipper option!

leggings at home outfit

Look #4 – Leggings & Cozy Sweater

Leggings are very controversial. Some of you love them and some of you hate them…it’s a very polarizing topic. But for those of you who love leggings…this one’s for you! I’ve shared my biggest tips for wearing leggings over 40 in this post in case you’re interested. But my biggest tip, if you’re going to try to dress up your leggings or wear them outside of the house, is to wear an oversized sweater. The AllSaints sweater I’m wearing in the photo above is roomier to juxtapose the tightness of the leggings and it’s longer, so it covers your bottom.

Throw on a third layer like a puffer, cargo, or leather jacket to elevate the look even more. And then throw on a pair of cool boots or sneakers. In this look, I’m wearing an older sporty puffer jacket by Blanc Noir and a pair of lug sole booties by Steve Madden that you’ve seen me wear A TON! This look is really edgy and modern… while the first four looks were a little more classic but how you feel in your loungewear is really up to you.
