Who doesn’t love a good basic that can be worn multiple ways? When it comes to building a versatile wardrobe, finding key pieces that are both affordable and stylish can feel like striking gold. This $40 sweater is one of those rare gems! Not only is it budget-friendly, but it also has the versatility to be dressed up or down, making it a great wardrobe staple. #1) Affordable Luxe Sweater & Matching Skirt

Erin completely missed this dolman sleeve, rib knit Open Edit sweater in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale preview…it just didn’t catch her eye. That might be because it’s one of those pieces that just looks so much more luxe in person! The fabric is thick in a good way because it adds some structure and heft, and makes you feel secure. It has such a lovely texture. Erin paired it with the matching Open Edit skirt which makes the outfit look more like a dress. But since the pieces are actually separates, you’ll get a ton of wear out of each. You can wear the sweater as a boat neck or off-the-shoulder. Wear it with the matching skirt like Erin did, or style it with jeans, trousers, pants, skirts, or joggers.

The matching skirt (also $40!) has a slit on the side that adds a touch of modernity AND sexiness. This would be a great date night look. While the slit on the skirt is fairly high, you could also wear this to the office come fall/winter with a pair of tights. Erin is wearing the set with white accessories, and we love the classic black and white combo. In particular, the teeny tiny heeled slingbacks by Sam Edelman look SO much like a designer pair but these have a much friendlier price tag.

The sweater comes in a few beautiful and versatile colors. And while the black keeps going in and out of stock, we’re really loving the color Grey Chia which is a pretty beige-y/grey shade. We’ll show you a few ways to style that one next!

#2) Affordable Luxe Sweater & Jeans

This next look is one you could wear to the office on casual Friday, out to dinner, or for a day of shopping. We styled the same Open Edit sweater with a pair of Good American mini bootcut jeans that Erin also fell in love with (actually the WHOLE team did!) when she tried them on. They are a perfect ankle length on Erin (she’s 5’4”) so the Dolce Vita sock booties work beautifully underneath. We added some mixed metal accessories because both silver and gold look beautiful with the color of this sweater. We’d also love it paired with white jeans too!

#3) Affordable Luxe Sweater & Joggers

Now for a look that is SUPER casual for a day of errands, a coffee run, or just hanging out at home. We took the same Open Edit sweater and paired it with a comfy pair of Zella joggers (yep, they’re on sale too!). The length of the sweater is perfect for snatching in and defining your waist without showing any belly. Also making it the perfect length for these drawstring joggers. For a super chic casual look, you can also throw on a leather biker jacket like this All Saints jacket which is still fully stocked if you don’t already have one in your closet. We added some cute P448 sneakers, a quilted Madewell crossbody, and some simple jewelry to polish off the outfit.
