Ways To Wear A Moto Jacket
If you don’t already have a moto jacket in your wardrobe, you should definitely consider getting one! It’s one of the essentials that I think most of you should have in your closet. If you have questions about those all-important style staples, you can download my wardrobe basics checklists, when you sign up for the newsletter here. (You also gain access to other awesome resources.)
A leather (or faux leather) jacket is tops on that list for fall. You can opt for a leather blazer or a black leather moto jacket. (BTW, If you haven’t found your perfect leather jacket, I share a couple of my favorite options at the bottom of this post. I also share info on how to find the perfect moto jacket, including sizing, hemline, design details, and more in this post.)
In this post, I’m showing you 5 simple ways you can style your moto jacket this fall and winter…

#1) Moto Jacket With a Mini Dress
The first way you can style your moto jacket is with a dress! I know this outfit idea is heavily climate-dependent. But if you live in a warmer climate, throw on a chic little dress and your moto jacket for an effortlessly cool look. This white Michael Kors dress has long sleeves and comes in two other colors. It’s super comfortable, lightweight and SO versatile. This is the perfect transitional outfit from summer to fall! This is technically a ‘mini’ dress, but the length feels great for my 5’4″ frame.
Style tip: If you want to wear a moto jacket with a dress…go with a more feminine dress with your edgy moto jacket. That mix of masculinity and femininity is super chic and unexpected. I styled it with cool side zip booties by Paige but you could easily wear sandals or sneakers.
If you’re looking for more black booties for fall and winter, I’m sharing my top two picks in this post.

#2) Moto Jacket With Jeans & Booties
This is definitely a go-to style uniform for me during the fall! Under my moto jacket, I have on a white tee by Free People that has cool ruched sleeves. I paired it with relaxed boyfriend jeans and the same black booties by Paige. When it gets a little cooler, swap the long sleeve tee for a lightweight cashmere sweater for some extra warmth.

#3) Moto Jacket With A Midi Dress
If you like the look of #1 but want more leg coverage, wearing your moto jacket with a midi dress is the perfect option for you. I went with a gorgeous white moto jacket by AllSaints but you could still wear black if that’s what you have. This dress is one I bought during the NSale. I shared it and another one of my favorite black dresses in this post. It’s the perfect dress for women over 40…it has sleeves, a longer hemline, a flattering neckline, and a cinched waist! To finish off the look, I threw on classic black booties by Frame.

#4) All Black Look With A Moto Jacket
Wearing an all-black look can be super edgy! And the moto jacket really kicks the edge up a notch. To soften the look and give it more depth, play around with textures, shades, and fabrics. For example, I’m wearing a dark gray (almost black) pair of jeans and a velvet bodysuit. You can probably build your perfect all-black outfit with things you already have in your closet too. Worth noting, skinny jeans are still on trend, but you might want to play around with looser fit gray or black jeans too. I did a post about baggier jeans here.

#5) Moto Jacket Under A Wool Coat
This styling suggestion is for those of you who live in colder climates. You shouldn’t compromise style for warmth and vice versa. I like to try unusual layering combinations…just to mix things up. One of my favorites is to layer a moto jacket UNDER a coat. It’s not super common but I love how chic it looks! Plus, you get the warmth and the sophistication of that long coat, and then when you get to your destination, you can take off the long coat and leave on your moto jacket for an edgy, winter look.
For my formula on how to layer when it’s really cold, check out this video.
