The Best 20 Items in the Nordstrom Sale
Today is the PUBLIC ACCES DAY for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! That means ANYONE can shop now! It starts at 12:01 am EST on 7/15 (10:01 pm MST on 7/14).

Please note: This is a highly shopped sale and while there are some restocks, many products sell out quickly. Also, sizing may be limited! Our team works hard to update posts with the most recent, relevant information.
Size reference: I’m 5’4″ and wear a size 2-4, Small & 26 jeans. Denise is 5’5″ and wears a size 6. Everything featured runs true to size unless specifically stated.
#1) Open Edit Sweater
We’re shocked that this Open Edit sweater hasn’t sold out yet! Erin tried on this sweater with the matching skirt in-store and thought the quality was so nice. The fabric is thick in a good way because it adds some structure and heft, and makes you feel secure. You can wear it as a boat neck or off-the-shoulder, wear it with the matching skirt, or style it with jeans, pants, and skirts. On the left, Erin’s wearing it with the matching skirt. On the right, she’s wearing it with a pair of flared jeans by AG.
#2) Splendid Twist Front Sweater
Next up is this sexy twist-front sweater by Splendid. It’s a little bit low-cut, but not at all scandalous. The V-neck is actually very flattering (for all body shapes!). You could also wear a cami or bralette underneath if that would be more comfortable for you. We love that it’s fitted through the waist and cropped, making it perfect with high-waist jeans, pants, skirts, or trousers. No tucking needed!
#3) Free People Cable Knit Sweater
This ivory cable-knit sweater by Free People is another sweater we’re shocked isn’t completely sold out yet. It’s a great price point, has a nice, cropped fit, and it comes in a few colors. It’s super easy to wear with jeans for fall/winter. You can see it on Erin and Denise above. Denise found that it runs a little large and has a more oversized fit.
#4) Free People Oversized Sweater
This chunky cable-knit sweater by Free People is a great casual sweater for fall! We love the ivory color but it comes in a few other colors as well. The turtleneck isn’t too high and doesn’t highlight the chin too much. It’s not super heavy, so it would be great if you live in a mild or a cold climate like Erin does. But the oversized fit makes it super cuddly and cozy. Erin loves it styled with trousers, but you can also wear it with jeans or leggings this fall too.
#5) 1.State Tank
If you don’t already have a classic black tank, this ribbed tank by 1.State is only $50 during the sale and a GREAT budget basic! It also comes in a pretty cream color…Denise bought it in both colors! At the time of writing this post it’s available in most sizes but selling fast. Some other great options that serve the same purpose in your wardrobe include this classic black cami and this sleeveless satin shell.
#6) CeCe Tie-Neck Blouse
Erin saw this blouse during the preview and was so excited to try it and…she really loves it! It’s very lightweight, a little sheer, has contrasting black and white, and a tie-neck. It’s a very elegant, sophisticated, ladylike top. It would be perfect for the office, but you can wear it to dinner too. The black version is sold out but the white version (with black contrasting details) is still fully stocked! If you prefer the black, CeCe also has a similar, short-sleeve version of the blouse in the sale.
#7) Rails Chambray Shirt
There were quite a few western-inspired pieces in the sale this year including everything from tops to boots and beyond. Erin saw this western-inspired Rails button-down and was so excited to style it. It has pearl snaps, the perfect faded chambray wash, peaked yokes, and it’s really soft. Erin has it tucked into a pair of jeans, but you could style it with pants, a skirt, or over a cami or tank. She’s wearing it in an XS and says it has a roomy fit.
#8) Good American Cropped Dark-Wash Jeans
These cropped Good American jeans that are SO good and under $100! The 27” inseam is perfect on Erin, she loves the 11” high rise, and the raw hem is a nice detail. The bootcut leg silhouette and dark wash are super flattering too!
#9) Sam Edelman Faux Shearling Coat
This faux shearling coat by Sam Edelman is such a sweet, pretty, feminine piece and we love the color for fall (also comes in black). Plus, it’s super cozy! This would work for fall and winter (just add more layers).
#10) Ralph Lauren Trench Coat
This Ralph Lauren trench is SO lovely…even more so in person. We really love the contrasting brown piping details that are so elegant and unique. It’s a classic, timeless style, it’s water-resistant, and it has a flattering belted waist. Erin loves the fit in the shoulders and it’s the perfect knee-length on her. It has limited sizing right now but also comes in black and navy. Plus, there’s also a longer version in the sale that has the same brown piping details!
#11) AllSaints Jacket Leather Jacket
A black leather jacket is a basic that every woman should have in her closet and AllSaints makes some of the best, high-quality, luxe-looking leather jackets. They usually have a few options in the sale each year, but we really love the classic look of this black jacket. This one has a great fit, minimal hardware, and now’s the time to get it majorly on sale! Erin typically sizes up one size in All Saints leather jackets.

#12) Veronica Beard Faux Leather Blazer
We cannot believe this blazer hasn’t sold out yet! Erin shared that she is SO in love with this blazer and called it an outfit-maker! She loves the color, the buttons, the faux leather, the shoulders, the tailored waist…it’s so feminine, sexy, sophisticated, and chic! It’s longer than a normal Veronica Beard blazer so you can get away with leggings, but you can also wear it with jeans like Denise did on the right. Plus, it would look great styled with pants, skirts, or over dresses. If you see the blazer in your size and it’s in your budget, grab it before it sells out.
#13) Franco Sarto Knee-High Boots
If you’re looking for a pair of knee-high boots, this pair of this pair by Franco Sarto are really nice. They have a cool, on-trend western feel, nice room in the calf, a pointed toe, and are very comfortable. They also come in white and taupe suede. #14) Marc Fisher Booties
It’s hard to see in the photo above, but Erin has on a pair of chic white block heel booties by Marc Fisher. They have a super manageable 2.5” heel, the block heel is super easy to walk in, and they’re comfy. They are selling out fast but also come in black and a dark red color. The black or white will be the most versatile!
#15) Dolce Vita Sock Booties
If you’re looking for a dressier pair of booties, these sock booties by Dolce Vita are perfect and will be a heavy hitter in your fall/winter wardrobe. The great thing about sock booties is that you can wear them with EVERY jean or pant leg silhouette, and with dresses and skirts. Plus, they also look great with tights.
#16) Trendy Slingbacks
Slingbacks are very on-trend right now and Erin found two pairs she really loves. They both come in multiple colors and have plenty of sizes available (at the time of writing this post). On the left is a super elegant, sophisticated pair of kitten heel slingbacks by Sam Edelman that have minimal hardware and are so chic. On the right, Erin’s wearing a pair of edgier slingbacks by Steve Madden that have cool buckle details we love. Both are great options for trying this trend because they’re so affordable!
#17) Steve Madden Sweater Dress
We can’t believe this sweater dress by Steve Madden is only $60!! It’s a lightweight sweater dress in a longer maxi length that we love. It’s not the most high-quality sweater material but it’s a wonderful budget buy if you’re looking for a chic and sleek sweater dress for fall. This dress is a blank canvas and so versatile…you can style it with anything, dress it up or down! Erin styled it with the edgy slingbacks from #16 for a simple but elevated look.
#18) AllSaints Scarf
This scarf is a wonderful basic in a natural color palette that you’ll wear for years. AllSaints always has a few scarves in the sale each year and this one is Erin’s favorite from this year!
#19) Nordstrom Pajamas
Denise shared that she put on these pajamas and was shocked at just how amazing and soft they are. If you’re in the market for a new pair of PJs, these are a great buy! These are selling out fast so if you see your size, grab it!
#20) Zella Jumpsuit
If you like working out in a jumpsuit, this one by Zella is great! Erin loves the dark plum color but it also comes in black. It’s a really nice fit, and feels secure and held in. She really likes the baby bootcut leg and it’s a nice length on her. She wears ankle weights during workouts so that extra fabric around the ankle is nice and will make it more comfortable!

Do the Halogen cropped faux leather pants work on a petite size, 5’2”?
I’m 5’4″ so they would be two inches longer on you. Cropped pants in general cut off the legs, but if you wear them with dark booties… you will keep your legs looking long. Black pumps will elongate your body too. Erin xo

I have already purchased (based on your recommendations) the sorel boots, the v neck sweater and the rag and bone straight leg jeans that you recommended earlier. they are all wonderful purchases. Now i am looking at the halogen faux leather pants and wondering about the sizing. The reviews say they run a little small, but the description says tts. Would you recommend sizing up? Thanks!!

What I love most about this is that we have some Erin favs with 2 different body types! Erin, this would be a great idea for your future you tube and blogs. It helps those of us medium/lg sized and above would look with your same outfit! Loved this!

Looks like the necklace sold out. I bought it from Bloomingdales. I checked and it’s not there. Dillard’s also carries Robert Lee Morris, but not there either. I prefer the Frame jacket because of the color. It’s more of a cool red tone. The Sanctuary one has a lot more orange… more of a spicy or warm red.
I prefer matte shadows- my eyes are a mess due to years of rubbing them because of allergies, so i really can’t wear shimmery shades. Do you know if charlotte tilbury, or anybody, makes palettes that are just matte? Also, i’m curious. When you purchase a new piece such as moto jacket, do you pass the older ones on to charity or friends, etc or do you just keep them all as a collection?

My first bigger purchase will probably be a moto jacket. I just cant decide on what color…do you have any tips oN that decision? I’m tall, thin, have silver long hair, in my late 40’s. Yeah, Erin! Great choices! Hopefully I placed all of this order through your link. Seemed a little confusing when I left your picks and tried to get to just the full sale site. The embedded link didn’t work like I expected it to. But… I’ve never placed this big an order before and am trying to calm myself down knowing that Nordstrom is so good about returns. I order multiple choices of black “rain” coats in multiple sizes in order to get it right. When with North Face choices, black t’s and sweaters, the Nike sneakers, zella hoodie. Hoping to do a black and red travel scheme.

What a mess! I managed to get the Stuart Weitzman booties I wanted at 3am but unfortunately was too tired to continue. Around 9am est I put a bunch of other items in my cart including the Alice & Olivia velvet jacket but due to the site being down it’s now sold out in my size. Very disappointed people on their Instagram account. First time doing their sale online and I can’t believe how horribly they handled this sale. Last year I stumbled onto the sale at the mall and got the Tory Burch boots you choose among other items so was eager to try online. Now I don’t even want the items not sold out.
You are SO right. It was a freakin mess. I was very disappointed too. I was so focused on ‘my picks’ for the site, that I didn’t order (or try to order until late morning) and literally it wouldn’t go through for hours. And, I’m still not sure it did cause I’m waiting on confirmation order. That said, I’m still excited! I can’t help it…
I hope they learn from this snafu and improve on it next year (and certainly for public access day on the 21st). TFS. Sorry you had such a hard time. Erin xo

I’m really happy I was able to get the Stuart Weitzman boots so I can’t really complain. I did go back and get a few more items including two more boots, the Franco Sarto Paivley in the burgundy and Steve Madden grand bootie although I’m thinking these might be too young. We shall see. Bloomingdale’s has been my go to store for 30 years and they’ve been having their own sale this week. No similar Alice & Olivia velvet jacket on their site but they have a beautiful Satin Blazer and a Cropped Bow Collar jacket at 25% off. They have a gorgeous Lupita Embroidered Halter Maxi dress that would look lovely on you.
