But as the new year approaches, there are also some newcomers to the arena, and some of them are pretty innovative. These 6 health & wellness trends for 2022 just might surprise you.

#1 | Immune Health

This one makes a lot of sense, right? We want to be sure we’re doing everything we can to prevent us from getting sick in the first place. Immune health is a trend that’s changing how we think about our overall health. We don’t just want to be doing “ok.” We want to thrive. #2 | Mental Health Care

It seems as though we’ve broken through some barriers about our mental health status as a nation. When high-profile athletes like Simone Biles and Calvin Ridley can step back from their professional careers to take care of their mental health, it signals to the general public that we can- and should- do the same. Instead of a “go, Go, GO!” mindset, we’re seeing more of a willingness and acceptance for people to pause and regroup.

#3 | Stress Tracking

Just when you got the hang of tracking how much sleep you got (or didn’t get, in some cases), now there’s a push to start tracking your stress levels. The goal is to understand when you feel stressed, even if you don’t consciously realize it, so you can learn to implement strategies to lower your stress levels and respond to the problem instead of react. It gives you insight into your own rhythms. 

#4 | Adaptogens

Maybe you’ve heard of adaptogens before, but you still aren’t quite sure what they are or what they do. Here’s a quick summary: adaptogens are herbs or mushrooms that have medicinal properties. They don’t “fix” anything, but they can work to stabilize the environment and support your body’s response to stress. With that explanation, it comes as no surprise that adaptogens are trending for 2022. We want to give ourselves support. We all just want to feel better.

When we think about where you hold your tension, your shoulders or neck are probably the first body parts that come to mind. Turns out, our faces also carry a lot of tension. Targeting these areas helps to relax your muscles, which should also help relieve your stress. Bonus points for this trend because it can also help the appearance of your face by tightening and lifting your muscles.

It turns out that there are some things from the past couple of years that we want to keep. Digital healthcare is one of them. We want to be able to see practitioners from the comfort and privacy of our homes. And they hear us. The digital healthcare market is growing. And while not all appointments can be done digitally, if it keeps me out of waiting rooms at all, I am here for it.
